Typhoon Milenyo Strikes

It's Sunday, and I’m here at the office. Well, not really working, I’m charging my freaking cell phone coz there's still no freaking power at home. Typhoon Milenyo hit Manila on Thursday and causing great havoc to an unsuspecting city. Trees fell, Billboards crashing through roadways causing unfortunate casualties and traffic. It wasn’t really a very strong typhoon unlike those that I have been able to experience in Pangasinan or in Baguio, I guess Metro Manila was just caught unprepared since it has been 11 years since it was directly hit by a typhoon. My eternal disgust with Billboards cluttering around the city will not be tarnished, as it will continue on and on until they will be torn down one by one. It is just unfortunate that people had to die until our government finally starts working on fastracking bills to regulate and pull down this madness of corporate greed.
Here are some pictures of the typhoon's wrath.
There are more here and here.
Here's a video from youtube.com.

i remember my first time in the philippines, my first thought after driving away from the airport was... "manila is filled with so may billboards!" weak capatilist bullshit man, a good product sells itself through word of mouth, not a half naked pic of some chick on the street.

So true man. I talk alot about it with everyone and try to at least make them aware that its ugly and dangerous. Some people in authority has tried to pull these fatal rubbles of steels down before but the Supreme Court issued a TRO to stop them. Mayor's didnt do anything about it also since these are big money for the city and most of the time money in their pockets. We all had to wait til Nature had to do it. This is my second time to go out of the philippines and see a clearer picture of other countries and what they have. We actually have almost the same things even in the states. Same Malls,Buildings,Technologies, Im beginning to think maybe what we dont have as filipinos is plain and simple discipline, we just dont have it anymore.
