Umuulan

The rainy season is here again, my favorite season. And while most of the town get grumpy about the fact that its always wet and you they cant go anywhere, I celebrate the fact that everything can settle, for at least while the rain is here.
Tis the time when my mind is on a serene mode. So I was angry on my previous post, but I’d like to believe the rain had just washed away most of the angst. While I had always articulated my utmost love for Baguio city, this is the time when I miss the place most.
And though Makati is still busy I find a little tranquility in the overcast sky over me. But surpassed the consolation that I tried to treat it to be when while at the cab on the way home, the car stereo was playing a loop Ehead’s version of Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka. Though on some maybe it can get quite annoying, I was actually singing along with it until we reached home. It was some sort of a therapy to a worn-out urban spirit that we are. Made me think how long it was since I heard Ely belt out on record. Though scratchy that it was you’d feel the sincerity in his rendition. What ever happened to the erayurheads attitude the they had on their early works, works that artists like Jim Paredes of the Apo Hiking Society has cited as their best works. Nuf said the heads are gone and Ely somewhat has managed to emerge into the scene with other names that he’d like himself to be called with a new band and now back to being called Ely Buendia again. I know confusing as it is he’s now in a band called Pupil.
And while I try take pleasure on the nicotine cloud on an overcast sky. I bid farewell for a while.
